IT Specialist II

Job Description Job Description Salary: $27-$32/hour

Stillwater Sciences seeks a highly motivated network and desktop support specialist to serve as a member of our IT department supporting an inter-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers working across seven physical offices. We are a small IT department so there is an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of our IT needs from end-user/desktop support to network and systems administration.  The IT Specialist II will generally work regular business hours; however, some weekend and evening work may occasionally be necessary.  Some overnight travel to other offices is occasionally required. This position will be in-office for the first 3 months with the potential to be hybrid after 3 months. (A hybrid schedule is not guaranteed and will be based on business needs.)

The IT Specialist will:

Provide desktop/network support to all employees at both local and remote offices.

Configure and install desktop and laptop computer systems and applications within the company.

Resolve technical issues related to network interruptions.

Create training materials pertaining to computer troubleshooting and usage.

Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose hardware problems sometimes using remote access tools.

Assist in the ongoing maintenance and future planning needs of the company’s desktop environment.

Assist managing SharePoint Online

Collaborate with existing vendors to evaluate the new technology that is available and make recommendations to IT Committee on using that technology.

Monitor the performance of the company’s desktop infrastructure and make suggestions for improving efficiency.

Assist in managing and monitoring the network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and cloud services.

Document and maintain IT procedures and Inventory.

Manage backups of both onsite and cloud data.

Assist with server and network maintenance.

Implement tools to improve IT systems for security, efficiency, stability.

Expand our use of Microsoft 365 tools including Intune and Defender

Qualified applicants should possess:

5+ years desktop support / network administrator experience

Demonstrated experience with prioritizing tasks and requests.

Excellent follow-through and customer service skills

Organized and efficient approach

Proven time-management skills

Comfortable working in and assisting others through remote access.

Experience working with Windows 11

General understanding of networking technology (firewall, routers, switches)

Experience with AutoCAD and BIM 360 management a plus.

Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.

Experience installing and configuring computer systems and applications in an enterprise environment.

Proven ability to offer high-level desktop support in an enterprise environment.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet the technology needs at Stillwater Sciences

Experience with Microsoft 365 Administrative tools (Intune, Autopilot, Defender)

Experience with NIST 800-171 compliance a plus

Availability, Compensation, and Application Details:

This is a full-time position in Davis, California

$27-$32/hour, depending on experience
