Tax Manager

Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws, regulations, and deadlines. Review tax returns, workpapers, and supporting documentation prepared by tax staff or external tax advisors.
Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities and optimize tax efficiency. Analyze tax implications of business transactions, investments, and organizational structures. Provide guidance on tax-related matters to management and key stakeholders.
Tax Provision: Manage the preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740), including deferred tax calculations, uncertain tax positions, and valuation allowances. Review tax provision workpapers, reconciliations, and disclosures for accuracy and completeness.
Tax Research: Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, regulations, rulings, and court cases. Conduct tax research and analysis to assess the impact of new tax legislation or regulatory developments on the organization. Provide guidance and recommendations on tax planning opportunities and compliance issues.
Audit Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities during tax audits and examinations. Coordinate responses to information requests, inquiries, and document requests from auditors. Review audit findings, proposed adjustments, and settlement agreements.
Tax Reporting: Prepare and review tax-related financial statements, disclosures, and footnotes for inclusion in financial reports (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q). Ensure accurate and timely reporting of tax information in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Tax Technology: Leverage tax software and technology solutions to streamline tax processes, improve efficiency, and enhance compliance. Evaluate and implement tax software tools, automation solutions, and data analytics techniques to support tax department operations.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop tax department staff, including tax accountants, analysts, and interns. Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to support professional growth and development. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA license required.
Master's degree in Taxation or related field is a plus.
5+ years of experience in tax compliance, planning, and consulting, preferably in public accounting or corporate tax departments.
Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.
Experience with tax provision software (e.g., OneSource Tax Provision, Corptax) and tax compliance software (e.g., ProSystem fx, GoSystem Tax RS).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior management, external advisors, and tax authorities.
Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire team members, foster collaboration, and drive results.
