Paying homage to its original spirit, each of the unique guest rooms and public spaces reflects a combination of Mediterranean Revival architecture, rich Spanish Colonial history, and calm Caribbean temperament, making Hotel Havana one of the most authentic places to stay in San Antonio. We're looking for:

A Rooms Agent that will exceed the expectations of all Bunkhouse guests in a multitude of tasks that include, but are not limited to, Front Desk Operations, Concierge Services, and Maintenance Person tasks. This includes telephone operations, checking guests in and out, taking reservations, inventory control, accounting and front office related tasks that require a great attention to detail. Some tasks include, but are not limited to: overall maintenance, functionality, ambiance and beauty of the property grounds, interior, and exterior. This position has oversight of property grounds as assigned.

The person in this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, they must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). College Degree preferred

Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace

Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e., Property Management System)

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Ability to apply concepts of math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to multitask and complete daily tasks/duties

Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff

Ability to create documents in Excel and Word

Job Requirements: Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction

Ensure the accuracy of hotel guest reservations (i.e. rates, dates of stay, room types, VIP amenities, billing instructions, etc.)

Follow SOPs of Property Management System

Promote and encourage guest name recognition

Maintain knowledge of all property services and amenities

Complete all shift checklist items

Check in and out all hotel guests in a confident, professional, and personalized manner

Take hotel reservations accurately and efficiently

Assist in the development and implementation of special projects

Ensure immediate response is given to all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary

Maintain a positive relationship with all employees and guests

Ensure all calls are answered in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner

Adhere to dress code policies for their scheduled shift

Assist in training and supervising Front desk staff

Resolve customer complaints

Maintain an accurate log of guest calls for assistance or complaints, and ensure completion of all items

Open, secure and balance out shift banks to include the verification of all cash, credit card and room charge transactions during all shifts

Maintain accuracy with all accounting and billing procedures

Have a comprehensive knowledge of hotel availability and current rates and/or special events (which may have an impact on occupancy and availability)

Possess fluent knowledge of local restaurants, special events, city attractions, amenities, and directions

Always ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met to include grounds related problems or issues that need immediate attention.

Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area

Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition

Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property

Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements

Attend relevant meetings

Cleans and maintains all interior/exterior areas around the property

Maintains organization and cleanliness of storage areas

Communicates with Housekeeping staff regarding room cleanliness/condition

Assists other staff/guests when needed

Adheres to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instructions

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and /or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently with or without reasonable accommodation.

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Working Conditions/Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting

The person in this position may have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift

The person in this position may have to stand 5-8 hours greeting/acknowledging guests

The person having this position may have to remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
