SUMMARY
Working independently, the Senior Network Engineer plans, designs and develops local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization, participating in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This position will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems and provide end-user training. The principal business outcome for this position is the stability and integrity of GameStop’s data network services. This senior level role is characterized by increased levels of independent work to be performed, more complex engineering work, elevated extent to which process recommendations are expected, increased experience levels required, and mentoring responsibilities. An associate in this position may interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either. Most activities can be completed without a supervisor’s advance approval. Mentoring and leading team activity is a key skill to this role.
This position will sit onsite in Grapevine, TX.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement new and enhanced technologies into the network
Adoption and adherence to current IT policies and processes
Design, implement and support Next Generation Firewalls or Unified Threat Management appliances
Support the design and analysis of LAN/WAN/WLAN network improvements and enhancements
Monitor system hardware and software and manage system and service performance.
Maintain documentation and diagram regarding network configuration, operating procedures, and runbook records
Determine capacity and performance planning goals
Prepare evaluation studies and make recommendations for vendor management and/or device selection
Participate in on-call rotation to respond to needs of a 24x7 environment. Must be flexible to work extended hours when required and be available for periodic weekend work
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES
Must have industry standard knowledge in LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies and protocols
At least 2 years supporting public cloud network set up (e.g., AWS, GCP)
Working knowledge of common router, switch, firewall, VPN, and management platforms among popular product families (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet)
Ability to think and troubleshoot full OSI stack from L1 though L7 including the ability to help App/Dev teams with application access concerns
Network management and troubleshooting skills should include working knowledge of protocol analyzers, change management, and network monitoring systems
Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
Working knowledge of effective problem solving and identifying innovative solutions, including new products and demonstrate flexibility in day-to-day work
Proficient written and verbal communication skills using spoken English, including the ability to explain complex ideas to others with varying levels of expertise throughout the organization
Proficient organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple, overlapping, and potentially conflicting priorities
Ability to remain highly effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization
Demonstrated ability to develop and support scalable services technologies, observing SLAs and throughput constraints

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or other related degree
Cisco CCNA certification required, CCNP/CCDP preferred
5+ years of experience supporting, installing, configuring and troubleshooting enterprise network environments with Cisco product
Experience supporting Aruba, Palo Alto or Fortinet devices
Experience supporting Network Access Control (802.1x) for wired and wireless networks, using Aruba ClearPass Policy Server and Meraki
Experience working with SSL Certificate Authorities and certificate management
Detailed technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and authorization protocols, cryptography and application security
Working knowledge of Load balancer e.g. F5 LTM
Knowledge of network security and controls
Strong documentation skills, proficient in design documents and diagrams
Working knowledge of multi-unit (chain) retail systems and processes
