CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

We are the Supply Chain Platform Engineering team that powers the Cloud and Devices supply chains of Microsoft with opportunity to productize. We are seeking a **Principal Software Engineer, Physical Supply Chain Traceability Platform,** who is a proven thought leader with great technical and process depth to drive clarity on vision and roadmap for evolving requirements and standards in the areas of Supply Chain Traceability, Risk and Compliance, Artificial Intelligence, and Supplier/Partner integration.

The successful hire will drive innovative architecture and design to enable automation of our processes and systems in a data driven manner, while continuously improving operational excellence (security, resiliency, scalability, efficiency). We value passion to tackle ambiguity and drive innovation in an agile manner along with effective problem-solving, coding, and debugging skills.

As part of these challenging initiatives, you’ll collaborate closely with highly motivated and skilled architects, program managers, developers, compliance experts, business users, internal and external supply chain partners & customers to understand and deliver on the platform capabilities. Together, we aim to create world-class Supply Chain platform and solutions that pushes boundaries and elevates Microsoft’s impact with driving innovation as industry leader enabling automation of complex processes and systems in a data driven manner, while continuously improving operational excellence (security, resiliency, scalability, efficiency).

**Responsibilities**

+ Provide thought leadership, vision and roadmap for Supply chain Traceability platform, systems and business processes. Work across organizational boundaries to drive clarity and alignment on business processes, technical architecture and design. Drive cohesive end to end system strategy through well-defined interfaces across multiple components and systems, leveraging data/telemetry to make decisions.

+ Drives collaboration and successful partnership with architects, business, Corporate External and Leagal Affairs (CELA), Program Managers, engineering organizations and other internal/external partners/customers for addressing the evolving complex compliance requirements. Has proven track record to handle ambiguity, evolving requirements and deliver on complex programs with solid focus and collaboration with external and internal stakeholders and organizations.

+ Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable. Drives platform mindset and mentors and guides other engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.

+ Stay current with new technologies and industry best practices, Demonstrate agility in delivery of well-designed platform and solution through innovation and experimentation. Promote modern software engineering patterns and practices through reviews for architecture/design/code in broader team.

+ Drive and participate in Industry standards for addressing unique complex problems for platform innovation. Proactive assess & address risks, and strategize and drive integrations across internal and external supply chain ecosystem. Consider testability, portability/monitoring, reliability, maintainability in delivery of best-in-class services and software

+ Be a role model for Customer obsession and operational excellence. Focus on customer/partner needs through a data driven approach. . Incorporate stakeholder and user feedback, drives clear customer and operational success metrics, and continuous improvement. Embody our culture and values

**Qualifications**

**Required/Minimum Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

**Additional or Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 3+ years of experience building applications on Azure cloud. 5+ years’ experience in a technical leadership role, not necessarily managing people. Communication and leadership skills, capable of motivating and leading technical teams, and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.

+ Deep understanding of software engineering principles, distributed systems, design patterns, data structure & algorithms, software security, reliability, and performance optimization. Solid technical expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g. C#, Java, JavaScript etc.) and software development frameworks.

+ Industry or project experience with Supply Chain Traceability and Compliance systems, preferably in Hardware and high tech supply chains.

+ Demonstrated ability to think strategically, balancing long-term objectives with short-term business needs. Ability to drive large, complex programs and solutions ability to communicate technical details clearly and participate in contributing to Industry standards. Self-motivated with a drive for reaching across teams and organizations to make progress collaboratively.

+ A sense of personal ownership and accountability is required, together with the ability to develop and deliver to deadlines while managing internal stakeholder expectation. Has growth Mindset with a desire to learn, a tendency to embrace challenges, persist in the face of setback, see failures as essential to mastery, learn from criticism and find lessons and inspiration in the success of others.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
