Software Engineer Intern

We are looking for a motivated Software Engineering intern to make an impactful contribution to our software team this summer! As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be primarily working with talented software developers, software testers, and product owners to build production level software that supports our sequencing platforms. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with a team-focused collaborative spirit, eagerness to build, and willingness to learn and improve on their development skills.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Plan, design, and develop features within our existing applications.

Document and test new software applications.

Actively engage with team members, ask questions, and learn new frameworks to apply to our tech stack.

Collaborate on-site in a small, growing team of fast paced solution-oriented software engineers from various specialties.

Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.

Research, investigate, and fix a wide range of technical problems.

Employ exceptional problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university with a focus in Computer Science, Bioengineering or equivalent; Must be a Rising or graduating Senior.

Previous industry experience in developing software, or equivalent project experience.

Familiarity with networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.

Familiarity with various API protocols, such as REST, gRPC, and graphQL.

Previous experience working with technologies across front-end and back-end, (Go, React, Typescript preferable).

Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.

Willingness to "try, fail, learn, succeed, and repeat"!

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Base Compensation Pay Range: $25/hr. - $40/hr.

In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.

Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
