Job Title: Billing Specialist
Job Description
As a Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for completing all tasks necessary to successfully complete the billing cycle in a timely manner. This includes working with insurance providers, nursing center staff, and prescriber's offices to provide support and feedback regarding billing errors to pharmacy personnel. Your role will involve running daily and monthly logs, posting charges, credits, and adjustments, managing accounts, processing correspondence, handling prescription claims, and managing billing rejections among other duties.
Day-to-day duties
1. Runs and reviews the daily and monthly logs and corrects any coding errors, etc.
2. Posts the monthly charges, credits, and adjustments to the patient and facility accounts.
3. Makes changes to the patient and facility accounts as they occur; such as, changes of address, billing status, etc.
4. Runs monthly accounts receivable statements and prepares statements for mailing.
5. Completes the billing on or before the deadline as specified by the President/Vice President and or/Facility
6. Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence as needed
7. Completes proper forms as specified for the completion of collection letters.
8. Tracks dates of collection letters and any responses or other pertinent information that will be needed if the account must be sent to the collection agency.
9. Turns bad debt accounts over to the Billing Supervisor after all necessary attempts for collection have been made.
10. Perform prescription claims adjudications for all pharmacy insurance programs
11. Handle Med-A billing to nursing facilities
12. Handle billing rejections for the pharmacy
13. Manage refill-to-soon rejections process
14. Assist with prescription billing errors
15. Manage prior authorization prescription orders
16. Input new patient profiles
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
1. Computer skills, including fundamental knowledge of Windows-based software programs, including word processing &spreadsheet applications, etc.
2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs; specifically MS Excel is preferred
3. Must have excellent phone/customer service skills.
4. Organization skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
5. Ability to adhere to regulatory and company compliance, Code of Conduct, and Business Ethics (OSHA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, etc.)
6. Keeps abreast of current state, federal, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
7. Understand, promote, and comply with rules and regulations governing residents' rights
Qualifications
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
2. At least one year of pharmacy billing experience, preferred
3. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
4. Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision

Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Months.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Rocklin, California.
Work Environment
Office environment with working hours from 6 am to 2:30 pm
