Job Description
The Portfolio Lead is responsible for maximizing the value of the product portfolio, focused on Mechanistic research tools (including epigenetics and metabolism), we require an experienced lead responsible for developing and delivering a disease specific portfolio strategy which ensures we are positioned at the forefront of our customers minds when making product decisions, through the correct positioning and product mix that will suit their research needs.
This position is part of the Product organisation at abcam and will be located in Cambridge UK, or Waltham, US.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Develop and implement a strong, ambitious global Portfolio strategy for Mechanistic Tools (Epigenetics, Metabolism, Cardio) that positions for growth across all product categories and custom service offerings, aligned with customer needs.
Own revenue and margin and longer-term financial targets of the designated Portfolio supported by global list pricing, regional discounting strategies and promotions in consultation with Growth Marketing and Sales to meet or exceed budget.
Drive the successful delivery against the Portfolio strategy, to: Continue above market growth of core categories (including antibodies, immunoassays, cellular and biochemical assays, proteins, cell lines, conjugation)
Direct New Product Introduction Lead to execute on NPD focus and launch plans for new products and product cohorts, to deliver maximum market penetration and revenue growth in early product life-cycle
Direct the Product Management team to deliver operational business planning for the management of the mature life-cycle products (3+ years) in the Portfolio, and ensure these activities are aligned with marketing plans and activities to deliver revenue expectations.
Work closely with R&D teams on approach (in-house, OEM, in-licensing), optimal product mix, and prioritization of Portfolio needs, NPD pipelines, to ensure resources are agreed and allocated in alignment with Portfolio needs and goals to deliver on strategy in near, mid and long-term.
Work with Emerging Business, R&D and other Portfolio Leads to monitor and analyze global customer needs, market insight and competitor trends, using these as inputs to drive successful development and delivery of a differentiated, market leading Portfolio strategy with commercialization plans via all channels and in all regions in which we operate.
Qualifications Bachelors, in a life science discipline with significant broad practical knowledge of the life science tools and reagents sector.
Strong knowledge of disease area (experience in one or more of Epigenetics, Metabolism, Cardiology) and the needs that customers working in the field are looking for, when considering proteomic tools for their research, with extensive experience in Product Management, Product Marketing or Strategy development in the Life Sciences industry.
Demonstrated Analytical, data-driven approach to building commercialization plans and then pivoting or optimizing to exploit or mitigate external or internal factors to meet customer needs, sustain growth and meet budget.
Up to 30% travel required, including international and domestic
