Purpose The Staff Auditor Internal Audit conducts financial and operational audits of internal controls in airports, Centers of Excellence, and other locations using auditing and analytical tools designed to assure that adequate controls over assets, operations, and financial records are maintained. Essential Functions
Communicates control deficiencies and recommendations to management
Completes field work programs designed to measure and report on the locations’ compliance with the company policies and procedures; this includes inspections and tests related to cash management, payroll, information systems security, purchasing and inventory management, capital assets, disbursements, and accounts payable, cash, and sales
Completes test work that measures and reports on the control environment, compliance with existing policies and procedures, and conformity with generally accepted accounting principles for centralized accounting and operational functions performed at the Centers of Excellence
Performs test procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and follows-up with process owners to obtain action plans to resolve any issues encountered; identifies and documents internal controls including preparation of narratives, flow charts, and risk matrices
Participates in special projects or requests from management as directed by the Audit Manager or Director which can include fraud investigations, data analysis, as well as other requests
Reporting Relationship The Staff Internal Auditor reports to the Manager, Internal Audit Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment
Education and Experience: The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 3 years:
In a technical role: Prefers 3+ years of experience engaged in developing and delivering internal audit programs.
A bachelor’s degree in a program related to the functional area can count for 1 of the 3-year requirement
In the industry: 1+ years of Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience
Preferred: IIA or similar certification
Specialized Training:
Training that leads to an in-depth understanding of internal control identification and evaluation
Training that leads to knowledge of fraud investigation, IT & Digital audit, and AuditBoard (or similar system knowledge)
Knowledge of requirements of the SAS (Statement of Audit Standards) of the AICPA and Financial Accounting Standards with broad business knowledge, experience, and insight
Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits
Business acumen and also has the mindset required to understand the long-term implications of Functional planning and to advance the organizations goals
Demonstrated history of understanding the needs of the business, stakeholders, the employee population and individual circumstances
Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments
Location/Travel:
This position is based at the F&B Center of Excellence in Bethesda, MD
Requires up to 50% travel to airport locations
