Our client project is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).
Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The project Software group is responsible for all production software at aerospace project.
This includes: real time embedded software running inside Customer Terminals, Satellites and Ground Gateways; Web and mobile applications interfacing with the customer; Cloud Services; Databases; Monitoring and Control Software; Routing Algorithms and many other types of software. We are the lab team inside the software group. Our team owns the aerospace Software lab and provides lab as a fully managed service.
We make it possible to develop, test and release software on real hardware.
In this role, you will design, build and operate the lab infrastructure.
You will be hands on, making sure lab environments are highly available, while scaling team’s processes to ensure long term success.
You will work hand in hand with software and hardware development teams as well as program management and other stakeholders to make sure we can rapidly deliver high quality software.
Key job responsibilities:
Design, set up and maintain test fixtures to verify software on real hardware
Troubleshoot software and hardware problems with pre-production equipment
Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around developer and engineering productivity and velocity especially as it relates to rapid test iteration
Drive adoption of best practices in hardware health, testing, and maintainability
A day in the life:
The successful applicant will be experienced in keeping technical infrastructure running smoothly and balancing high priority issues.
You should be comfortable taking on ambiguous challenges like setting up new pre-production hardware for the first time.
You should be able to define standard operating procedures to keep equipment and test infrastructure highly available and expand the teams capabilities over time.
You will be invaluable to enabling the team to move quickly and confidently to scale our systems.
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of non-internship professional software development or IT experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent technical field.
2+ years of experience in labs dealing with spacecraft/aircraft test/validation/development
2+ years of experience working with Linux-based systems
Preferred qualifications:
Highly autonomous, very detail oriented, and willing to learn new skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers is required
The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization
Knowledge of industry-standard test automation tools and experience in developing product test harnesses and instrumenting products to gather test results
Highly autonomous, detail oriented, and willing to learn new skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers is required
The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential
Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience in developing product test harnesses and instrumenting products to gather test results
Experience creating and expanding powerful automated testing hardware and tools
