The Data Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of data solutions. This includes working collaboratively with business stakeholders, data architects, and other subject matter experts to create solutions that are impactful and drive value for the business to create a competitive advantage. The Data Engineer must have a strong understanding of leading technologies and the ability to translate business requirements/desires into technical specifications.
What You'll Do
Heavily hands-on role in data collection, data analysis, building data pipelines, and data governance.
Partner with business stakeholders, management, and technology teams to identify needs and guide the delivery of cost-effective, high-performance technology capabilities leveraging best principles.
Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and vendors to help achieve departmental and enterprise goals.
Integrate technical functionality to ensure data accessibility, accuracy, and security.
Conduct continuous audits of system performance, refine whenever required and report immediately any breach or loopholes.
Define and manage the flow of data and dissemination of information within the organization.
Practice self-leadership and promote learning in others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback.
Establish collaborative, cross-functional relationships and communicate information and provide advice to drive enterprise data architecture decisions forward.
Adapt to competing demands and new responsibilities, providing feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership.
Must-Haves
A minimum of 3 years of designing, building, and deploying data solutions
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Experience in data modeling (normalized and de-normalized structures)
Extensive experience using RDBMS; Microsoft SQL (Azure Cloud) preferred but experience in equivalent technologies acceptable.
Extensive experience using cloud based ETL/data integration tools; Azure Data Factory/Synapse preferred but experience in other tools acceptable.
Experience using scripting tools/languages for data manipulation/analysis; Python, SQL preferred but experience in other languages acceptable.
Experience using and manipulating semi-structured/unstructured data formats; JSON, CSV, Parquet, etc.
Experience using CI/CD tools and methodologies; GitHub preferred.
Experience/understanding of API technologies; REST, SOAP, etc.
Experience with Microsoft Power BI or equivalent with non-Microsoft Business Intelligence solutions, such as Tableau, Qlik, etc.
Experience using Modern Data Platforms & Tools; Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Delta Lake
Education and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
Working Environment and Physical Demand
Remote - requires quarterly travel to our Asheville, NC office.
