Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction

Job Summary: As a Heavy Civil Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and develop comprehensive estimates that ensure competitive and precise project bids.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Analysis and Estimation:
Review project plans, specifications, and requirements.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Analyze blueprints, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Bid Preparation:
Develop and submit competitive project bids.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and availability information.
Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards and regulations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project scope and requirements.
Provide clear and detailed estimate reports and presentations.
Participate in project meetings and site visits as needed.
Cost Management:
Monitor and track project costs against estimates.
Adjust estimates as necessary based on project changes and unforeseen conditions.
Provide cost-saving recommendations and value engineering solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Relevant experience in construction estimating, particularly in heavy civil projects (all experience levels will be considered).
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., HeavyBid, PlanSwift, MS Excel).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
