Position Summary:
This position is within Old Republic’s corporate actuarial team. The candidate will oversee the development of rate level indications, ad-hoc pricing assignments (reviewing large deductible model, reinsurance reviews, trends), and quarterly reserving. The candidate will also review/manage compliance filings completed by analysts. The responsibilities will be to answer Analysts’ questions, review their work, and make decisions.
Our work spans a variety of property-casualty commercial lines. The candidate will also work closely with our various Subsidiaries, our (Chicago-based) Executive team and Compliance team who are also in the Chicago office.
Our hybrid work program provides flexibility for 2 remote days per week/3 in office days per week.
Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:
Develop rate level indications and other information in support of compliance filings
Assist the actuarial team with data prep for pricing and reserving projects
Deliver error-free work product in a timely manner with minimal supervision
Clarification of business requirements as needed
Perform quality reviews of others’ work
Prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Effective communication of results and conclusions
Complete other duties as assigned
Analyst management optional
Experience/Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
4+ years of property-casualty actuarial/filing experience
Successful completion of at least two actuarial exams
Continuing with exams will be supported by our exam program but this position is open to non-exam takers as well
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities
Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
Takes initiative on projects and assignments
Excellent communication skills on multiple platforms and customer service skills including ability to effectively communicate with non-actuaries
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
