SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Cleans all areas of the surgery center by performing routine cleaning of offices, operating rooms to include terminal cleaning. Demonstrate ability to utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
Ability to function as part of the facility staff within the operating room area to maintain sanitation, promote clinical level disinfection and decontamination and promote timely and appropriate surgical room turn over. Consistently comply with all organizational policies and standards.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Consistently participate in operating room turn over practices between surgical cases
• Perform terminal/detailed cleaning of the OR rooms by following check list or as instructed by OR personnel
• Polishing furniture and fixtures
• Dusting air vents
• Maintaining a clean, stocked, and sanitary kitchen and locker room areas
• Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to standardize care.
• Mopping hard floors
• Transports trash, soiled linen and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal areas.
• Tidying up rooms, hallways, and common areas
• Reports safety hazards as appropriate
• Monitoring cleaning supplies and informing materials staff as needed.
• Consistently follow universal precaution infection control standards and practices.
• Observes and initiates safety precautions at all times.
• Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times
• Personal behavior is professional and appropriate for a healthcare facility
• Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations and inter-departmental objectives.
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
High School diploma or general education degree (“GED”)
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office or clinic.
LANGUAGE:
Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, memos
and basic correspondence. Ability to communicate in an effective manner and/or present information orally in one-to-one and small group situations.
INITIATIVE:
Ability to organize and prioritize work and follow through
using one’s own initiative.
Ability and willingness to carry out instructions furnished in a written, oral or diagram form with little supervision.
Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS:
· Must be adaptable to a broad spectrum of personality characteristics.
· Functions as a resource person.
· Seeks guidance, direction and assistance when needed.
· Ensures and participates in optimal teamwork within the center through flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.

· Maintain a moderate noise level in the work environment especially in clinical areas with patients present.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
