Job Description
Nemours is seeking an AVP, Accounting to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Jacksonville, Florida.
This position is responsible for managing the division of Accounting (corporate Finance) to ensure that financial reporting is accurate, efficient, timely, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), governmental regulations and Nemours policy. This position ensures internal accounting controls are in place, documented, and effective. This position provides financial information and guidance on the use of this information. This position coordinates and supports other fiscal and clinical areas when financial information is needed to further the mission, vision and goals of Nemours.
Assists Senior VP Finance in managing various accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices and procedures. Directs the preparation and evaluation of financial operating results and presents findings and recommendations to executive management.
Approves additions, deletions or changes to the Organizational Structure within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. This includes, but is not limited to, new companies, divisions, cost centers and the chart of accounts.
Oversees all subsystems interfacing with the General Ledger (i.e., EPIC, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Asset Management, Inventory Control, Purchasing). Maintains the interface specifications and works with appropriate teams on necessary modifications.
Ensures timely and accurate monthly and annual close of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, and Lease Management. Ensures timely and accurate financial statements. This includes ensuring upper Management has the opportunity to review prior to closing and responding to any questions they may have regarding the information presented.
Oversees the preparation of the audited financial statements (Consolidated, NCH-DV, NCH-FL, Pension, 403(b), 401(k), and Uniform Guidance), Form 990s and Federal Indirect Cost Proposal. Communicates between Nemours and external vendors during these engagements.
Recognized as an expert with the financial information system as well as accounting practices for health care and Federal regulations for grants under Uniform Guidance.
Ensures internal control of assets, accuracy and integrity of financial statements and compliance with GAAP and government agencies (both at Federal and State levels).
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Master's Degree in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of five (5) + years of strong accounting experience in either public accounting (audit experience) or in health care/nonprofit accounting.
Strong knowledge in Accounting including GAAP, financial statements, general ledger, etc.
Minimum of five (5) + years of supervisory experience required.
CPA preferred.
In-depth understanding of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Epic HB & PB, and Infor financial suite.
