Summary

Working for a large public safety agency, the Systems Engineer Consultant will be responsible for the overall management, operation, maintenance, and support of the agency's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system infrastructure, including Windows-based servers and storage devices, as directed by the designated Program Manager. The Systems Engineer will respond to server, storage, and system outages, fault codes, including after hours as necessary, and may be dispatched to remote sites for troubleshooting and repairs, as necessary. The Systems Engineer will report to the SDI Project Manager and customer team lead and collaborate closely with other members of the agency's technology department to remotely support the CAD system at sites located throughout California.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience aligning IT systems with organizational business processes.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience aligning IT systems with organization business processes in a lead capacity.

Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in a 24x7 service provider environment managing technical operations.

Minimum of seven (7) years' experience with strong technical skills/knowledge spanning enterprise infrastructure, web-based application hosting and Internet protocols.

Minimum of seven (7) years' experience managing, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise IT production environments with a virtual desktop infrastructure, client/server, and cloud-based technologies.

Minimum of seven (7) years' experience providing support resolving service requests/trouble tickets and systems issues.

Minimum of five (5) years' experience providing support for Information Technology (IT) Projects.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience setting up and maintaining Hyper-V virtual environments.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with Active Directory, DNS, Group Policies, DHCP.

Familiar with PowerShell (must be able to understand and potentially modify existing scripts).

Minimum of five (5) years of experience building servers from both an image (with task sequences, etc.) and without ('bare metal' build).

Minimum of five (5) years' experience with routing hardware/technologies to include basic understanding of routers, switches and IP.

Experience conducting system health checks including, but not limited to, DNS, Active Directory, Microsoft (MS) error log interpretation, DCHP, computer resources, etc. and resolve issues outside of the expected parameters.

Experience and knowledge with Cloud-based technologies.

Strong communications skills including:

Team collaboration and multitasking.

Strong written skills - experience documenting procedures & processes.

Familiar with working in a 'command and control' organization and able to follow the chain of command.

Comfortable with independence

Desirable Requirements:

Two (2) years or more experience managing/supporting public safety/law enforcement Computer Aided Dispatch and Mobile Digital Computer environments.

Two (2) years' experience managing/supporting Citrix Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI) environments.

Knowledge of HP hardware including SPP - HPE proprietary updates (e.g., HW/Drivers/Firmware) and new features for iLO.

Knowledge of VMWare and potential future architecture enhancements.

PowerShell scripting.

Experience with SCCM/MEMCM.

MS best practices.

Interpersonal skills

Collaborating with other teams to accomplish tasks

Ability to proactively investigate, research and mitigate potential environmental issues.

Balance the desire of the client with best practices and security standards.
