ICNA Relief’s Refugee Program is designed to rebuild, empower, and transition refugees by providing caring and compassionate service to victims of adversities and survivors of disasters. ICNA Relief helps refugees and other newcomers achieve self-sufficiency and become contributing members of American society.
Reporting to the Resettlement Program Manager, the Employment Coordinator will provide employment services to refugees, asylees, parolees, and other eligible individuals enrolled in the Matching Grant Program that helps eligible refugees become economically self-sufficient within 120 to 180 days of program eligibility. The Employment Specialist will deliver and document case management and employment services to newly arrived clients as well as ongoing support services in accordance with the grants which fund the program. The role is to support refugee families transition in their new communities and to achieve self-sufficiency through the Matching Grant Program.
Employment Coordinator Duties will include but not limited to
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Develop relationships with area employers that allow for placement of program participants in job opportunities.
Research and undertake outreach activities to employers in the ares to provide program information and to inquire about job openings.
Conduct job market analysis, facilitate presentations within the community, review and maintain database of available employers and positions to be matched with refugees.
Assist and lead in the provision of orientation on the U.S job market as well as pre-employment training.
Assist program participants with building resumes.
Assist program participants in job search and in the submission of applications.
Place participants in jobs appropriate to their needs, circumstances, and skills.
Follow up with program participants and employers to ensure retention, address any issues, and explore job upgrade opportunities.
Provide referrals and career counseling as needed.
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the U.S. refugee resettlement program including benefits and services refugees and other ORR eligible populations qualify for.
Conducts all services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, according to contract guidelines and/or agency policies and procedures.
Coordinate services with Case Managers to support program participants’ progress toward self-sufficiency.
Attending stakeholder meetings and work with community partners to learn about employment opportunities for refugees and make referrals when needed.
Document all services provided in files and case notes, as required by program guidelines.
