Radiology Associates is looking for a certified PRN MRI Technologist for our Orange Park Imaging location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Greet patient and provide instructions on procedures.
Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
Check patient orders to ensure order, diagnosis, exam scheduled and authorization are appropriate for the exam.
Screen patients for MRI safety prior to procedure. Ability to research correct safety requirements on MagResources or current designated MRI safety site.
Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of MRI scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed MRI safety procedures. Position patients for MRI scans using patient positioning devices and adjusts equipment, selecting proper protocol and sequences.
Prepare and dispense oral and intravenous contrast media.
Ensure equipment is in working order. Perform weekly ACR QA. Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, correct labelling in regards to patient information and laterality when applicable. Process related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
Provide orientation and training to new MRI technologists. Provide education and training to student technologists.
Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for MRI scans.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiologic technology.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years experience in radiologic imaging modalities. One-year experience in magnetic resonance imaging preferred. Experience with 3T and 1.5 Tesla imaging.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE: Licensed in the State of Florida and ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)) or Nuclear Medicine (RT(N)). Current ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) preferred, or must be obtained within first 12 months of employment in position. BLS Certification.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Proficiency with MRI procedures and protocols.
Cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
MRI safety and protection requirements for staff, patients and visitors.
IV placement and management skills.
Ability to use computer and network systems for processing and submitting images for interpretation by radiologist.
Emergency response: knowledge of AED function, crash cart location and oxygen tank usage. Ability to respond to allergic reactions or untoward medical event with calm demeanor and proficiency.
