Hexagon Lavish® is an antiartificial scientific R&D startup based in Atlanta, Georgia that has an open full-time/permanent position for an experienced Senior Staff Research Scientist V: Materials Scientist who will direct an engaging focus in conducting research in the application of PIR implementation techniques.
The Senior Staff Research Scientist V: Materials Scientist will focus on the implementation and deployment of multiple surface science and spectroscopic techniques that support the ongoing development of the PIR: Premier Information Retrieval product.
Position Overview
In this role, prospective candidates will serve as "subject matter experts" concerning the chemical composition analysis function for the PIR software product as it relates to the characterization of materials that the software product performs on its retrieval aspect.
The Senior Staff Research Scientist V: Materials Scientist must stay well connected with the materials science community, consistently bringing in outside technology and collaborating with experts in order to bring applicable solutions to the company. The Senior Staff Research Scientist V: Materials Scientist will perform functions that include the development, validation, and transfer of test methods for active ingredients, degradants and preservatives in product prototypes and applying the methods to assay study supplies.
This position reports directly to the Lead Scientist and/or Chief Science Officer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate scientific data by preparing technical reports
Collect, process, and interpret data to support new product development
Develop and document new methods as they evolve for new products
Make revisions and updates to current methods as needed
Document findings and write reports
Write validation protocols under guidance and perform validation work to establish method suitability for intended purpose
Author training protocols with guidance
Develop, revise and review the SOPs for chemical composition analysis functionality and implementation with PIR software
Must be able to maintain unconditional stability with the Crank-Nicholson numerical method
Ability to work with standard heat equations/modeling with differential equations
Working with and/or developing software tools used primarily by academic/scientific communities
Reviews and analyzes data, creates reports, and presents findings to teams, or customs as required
Proactively responds to issues related to materials quality or the characterization process and initiates resolution
Summarizes findings, and makes recommendations regarding the future impact on current processes or materials
Ability to work autonomously and without direct oversight
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills
Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
Write reports to interpret results of statistical analyses to non-statisticians, demonstrating organization and clarity
Govern activities for less experienced staff on selected projects to ensure quality of analysis
Select among existing approaches and techniques to complete varying assignments and learn new methods in response to project demands
Develop statistical analysis plans and perform analyses of moderate to high technical complexity with limited supervision
The candidate for this position will be an integral member on an interdisciplinary research team relating to applying their skill set to solving societal needs
Manage teams and projects through the company's phase gate process while achieving all key technical and commercial goals
Ph.D with the minimum of two years of experience in the disciplines of Applied Mathematics, General Physics, Applied Chemistry, Computational Physics, Chemical/Nuclear Engineering or Statistics OR Master's with the minimum of three years of experience in the disciplines of Applied Mathematics, General Physics, Applied Chemistry, Computational Physics, Chemical/Nuclear Engineering or Statistics

Mentor entry-level researchers in physics applications conducive to the working environment

BASE SALARY for this position is conditioned by a "24 on/off-schedule" that awards a certain amount per hour.
This position is a full-time/permanent position and requires a "24 on/off-schedule" that equates to a minimum of forty (40) hours per week .
