Main Purpose of Job
The Agency Budget Specialist I will\rprovidebudgetary support to the Water and Science\rAdministration(WSA), and Operational Services & Administration (OSA).The incumbent in this\rposition will be responsible for performing tasks related to accounts\rreceivable, cash receipts, inventory, fiscal year-end closing, and other\rfinancial analyses as deemed necessary.\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:Five years of experiencein budget preparation, presentation and execution. \rNotes: \r1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experiencein budget preparation, presentation and execution for the required experience.\r2. Candidates may substitute 30 credithours of graduate education from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration for the required experience. \r3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.\r
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
It is preferred that the selected candidate have a Bachelor's degree (s)\rin the following disciplines:\r\rAccounting\rBusiness\rManagement\r\rIt is also preferred that the selected candidate has experience in the\rfollowing:\r\rProficient\rin the use of Microsoft Excel;\rProficient\rin the use of Microsoft Word.\r

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r
