RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Intensive Care Unit RNs (MICU RNs) must be proficient in a wide variety of high-level nursing skills and have strong interpersonal communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills. MICU RNs provide care to the critically ill with conditions related to Lung problems, Kidney problems, Liver problems, Gastrointestinal problems, Diseases of the blood, Cancer problems and Blood infections. MICU RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
MICU RNs evaluate and order diagnostic tests and administer intravenous fluids and medications
Respond to life-threatening situations using nursing standards and protocols for treatment
Ensure ventilators, monitors, and other types of medical equipment static function properly
