Role Overview:

As McAfee continues to evolve into a consumer-centric business, it is looking to mature and elevate its Product & Design organization into a strategic, proactive, and customer-obsessed arm of the business. McAfee's SVP of Product & Design is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Technical Program Management to enhance and oversee day-to-day program management operations. This individual will be responsible for overseeing a team of Program Managers and leaders dedicated to understanding business needs and use cases, defining the strategic roadmap for product development, and ensuring its alignment with overall business objectives.

This is a Hybrid position located in San Jose, California. You should have the expectation to collaborate with the team in the office an average of 3 days per week. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to the San Jose, California, office and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role:

Strategic Planning:

Drive and influence technical and product strategy, proactively identify risks and develop mitigation strategies, align on priorities, and set direction for a broadly cross-functional Consumer Security Product Portfolio.

Partner with executive leadership in product management and engineering to ensure alignment with business priorities.

Oversee quarterly planning exercises, establishing timelines and team responsibilities, tracking progress, and owning key deliverables. Oversee ongoing communication to stakeholders in a timely fashion.

Team Leadership:

Manage a team of 30+ globally distributed directors and program managers on the ground embedded within Product & Design teams. Build a healthy, scalable, and growth-oriented organization across multiple locations.

Mobilize cross-functional teams to deliver solutions at scale and enable data-driven decision making, taking solutions to market that accelerate McAfee's ability to protect consumers from varied digital security threats.

Empower program managers to help inform programs' visions, business goals, scope, and delivery practices. Anticipate and remove obstacles that slow down or prevent teams from delivering on program goals.

Forecast team resourcing requirements.

Performance Optimization:

Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across McAfee to establish a shared vision for improving execution and building solutions.

Streamline and optimize operational processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions. Enable consistent adoption of common tools, naming conventions, and processes to support critical path and dependency management, risk and issue management, change management, etc.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitor and report success.

Oversee regular portfolio reviews and updates at sprint reviews to deep dive into the current state of programs' goals, risks, and critical issues.

Develop scalable reporting mechanisms that leverage approved tools (and recommend if necessary) for automation.

About you:

12+ years of experience in a software/technical program or engineering management experience, consulting, and/or an executive role

Relevant program management certifications, such as PMI Agile-Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and Scaled Agile Framework

Deep experience in:

Leading large technical and complex programs across cross-functional teams, from concept through execution

Leading teams through change and transformation

Managing the product development lifecycle, with ability to adjust and apply this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp)

Managing changing specifications or standards, creating conditions in which teams feel comfortable and capable of working in response to ambiguity

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to articulate concepts and rationale to stakeholders at all levels

Focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results

Proactive problem-solver with a growth mindset, self-motivation, and results orientation

High emotional intelligence and self-awareness
