As our new PC Support Technician we know you will be successful in this role because you are:
A Pro at Getting the Root of a Problem: Speaking with co-workers from all departments to help recognize, research, isolate, and resolve Level 2 tier problems is something that excites you. Using your five or more years of experience, you are confident in your ability to answer questions, evaluate needs, and can prioritize requests made over the phone, email, and in-person regarding user experience problems with hardware, software, networking, and other related technologies.
Enjoy Tracking Success: Preparing standard statistical reports, such as help desk incident reports, is a task you are ready to own. Analyzing and evaluating incident reports and making recommendations to reduce help line incidents is something you are ready to take on.
Happy to Share Your Expertise: You enjoy working with others and sharing your knowledge. You are ready to share your knowledge with others through training users on software and hardware on-site, in classroom settings, or by recommending outside contractors to provide trainings as necessary. You are excited to share your knowledge with the zoo and visit teams around our 92-acre facility to provide onsite support and/or training. Using strong communication skills, you can write or revise training manuals and procedures.
A Creator: You do not shy away from calling software and hardware vendors to request services on defective products. As an expert in your field, you can consult with programmers to explain software errors or to recommend changes to products. Installing personal software, PCs, peripheral equipment, and maintaining inventory, and system updates are examples of tasks you enjoy completing to ensure all technology is working properly. You can create items that will be deployed by your fellow IT teammates.
YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in the installation, maintenance, and general support of systems.
Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone, voicemail, email, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.
Help perform system backups and recovery and install new software.
Handle problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up for routine user problems, escalating more complex problems to supervisor or technical staff.
Write software and hardware evaluation and recommendation for management review.
Install PCs, software, peripheral equipment, maintaining inventory, and system updates.
Develop training material and visual displays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
QUALIFICATIONS Five (5) or more years related experience and/or training, high school diploma or GED, vocational school certificate, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
Thorough knowledge of the Windows Operating System and a strong understanding of Microsoft Office platforms.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Washington State to perform this role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
This position may be required to move about the 92 acre facility to provide onsite support for various Zoo teams.
