Mott MacDonald is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Civil Engineer in our New Orleans, LA office. You will be assigned to a team working on a variety of civil engineering projects focused on transportation, drainage, or water/wastewater. We work to deliver sustainable outcomes for our clients and the communities they serve across the country.
With guidance from our team of professional engineers, you will lead the design (planning through final detailed design) of civil engineering projects, primarily in transportation and water/wastewater for our Louisiana projects.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare and lead technical reports, specifications, design and contract documents, quantity take-offs, estimates, and calculations.
Using design manuals and standards to develop geometric design plans, alignments, profiles, cross sections, paving and striping layouts, traffic control plans
Performing hydrology and hydraulic drainage calculations.
Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
Performing construction oversight through site inspections, investigations, and monitoring contractor compliance
Provide support to project management and project control tasks.
Attend and lead in project, client, and team meetings
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, as needed
Mentor junior staff and actively participating in our ‘Early Careers Professional’ Network

To be considered for this position, you’ll need:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Minimum 4 years’ experience performing civil engineering design
Active Louisiana (PE) Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain
Previous experience in geometric roadway design
Previous design experience in hydraulic drainage modeling
Understanding in software’s such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, and Project)
Previous experience working with LaDOTD specifications.
Methodical approach to problem-solving to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
Written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail, with an ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings
