The Information Systems Division works in collaboration with programs and county agencies, to provide solutions to systems that assist families access essentials such as, but not limited to, medical services, care providers, groceries, and transportation. The California Department of Social Services’ (CDSS) Information Systems Division (ISD) has an amazing opportunity for an Information Technology Manager I (ITM I) to lead our Solutions Development Bureau (SDB) team and make a difference in many Californians’ lives. Under the general direction of the of the Chief, Innovative Technology Solutions Branch, the ITM I directs and sets the vision for the SDB team. The ITM I also collaborates with CDSS’s programs, ISD leadership, and other IT experts on setting priorities and plans for team’s delivery to meet CDSS strategic goals.
The following includes the essential duties and/or responsibilities of the ITM I position:
• Directs and sets the vision for the team. Collaborates with ISD and program leadership to set priorities for team’s delivery to achieve solutions and strategic goals. Works closely with project managers, technical supervisors to plan and deliver and support technologies solutions to support CDSS’s mission.
• Manages the day-to-day workload of the team, working to remove impediments and ensuring timely decision making and staff accountability. Ensures that staff comply with departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Works closely with the technical leads and architects to establish and support long-term organizational solutions- and technology policies and procedures. Supports the development of appropriate governance strategies for solutions and data management and operations activities. Researches and evaluates technologies to support solutions development and operations throughout CDSS.
• Oversees licensing and cost monitoring of the ISD solutions, developing strategies to proactively ensure appropriate funding and usage to avoid service disruption.
• Develops road maps and metrics to track progress toward project goals and overall solutions and operations responsibilities.
• Coaches and develops staff, promotes a collaborative environment, and maintains good culture across the team.

Working Conditions
This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.
