Description
The Role:
BigHat Biosciences is seeking a self-motivated individual to support the expansion of lab operations functions and to support broader platform growth. This role will enable the development of existing and new capabilities within Lab Operations, take ownership of growing functional areas, and help to support the expansion of lab operations at BigHat. This role reports directly to the Lab Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory incoming and existing materials, track quantities and order more as needed.
Respond to purchasing requests from lab users, routing through the appropriate level approval pathways and placing orders for requested items.
Take leadership of vendor relationships and coordination of support and maintenance services.
Coordinate, perform, troubleshoot, and document laboratory instrumentation events, communicating updates to the broader team.
Ensure all projects have the materials and instrumentation necessary to run smoothly.
Obtain certification for handling, shipping, and disposal of hazardous materials and coordinate shipments and pickups as needed, maintaining good documentation of events.
Assist planning potential expansion and optimizations of laboratory functionality, such as new instrumentation, different material types, or layout of lab space.
Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the lab and storage spaces.
About You
BS in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, with 1+ year(s) of industry experience.
Experience in a laboratory environment, with experience in lab operations, inventory management, or instrumentation maintenance a plus.
Self-motivated individual with attention to detail, excited to work in a dynamic start-up environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with members of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent record keeping abilities.
Considerable experience with Google Suite, with a focus on Google Sheets.
Experience with LIMS, lab management, and organizational softwares is a plus.
