Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
A TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph is required at time of hire. Candidate must be able to obtain the Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
A minimum of a IAT Level II (DoD 8570.1M) certification is required: e.g. GIAC Security Essentials - GSEC; CompTIA Security+ CE; Security Certified Network Professional - SCNP; Systems Security Certified Practitioner - SSCP
Responsibilities for this Position
Join our award-winning Insider Threat Detection program manned by a multi-disciplinary team of system and data engineers, data scientists, software developers, intelligence analysts, and investigators to provide insider threat detection and counterintelligence services. This program provides an opportunity to further advance cutting-edge technology, products, and services for a large Government agency to detect and mitigate insider threats. Our program takes data from multiple sources in any format (structured or unstructured), transforms it into interpretable fragments, and allow our engineers to categorize, quantify, distill, and display results for human analysts to interpret. Team members work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. Our technology stack is built on cutting edge hardware and software with multiple Windows and Linux environments interfacing with multi-petabyte data processing and analytic platforms all designed, built, and maintained by our team. The field of insider threat detection and mitigation is evolving and growing, and our program needs highly innovative individuals .
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer who is responsible for expanding the insider threat infrastructure with new and innovative solutions that address continually evolving needs. The successful candidate will configure and maintain existing infrastructure components, implement upgrades, utilize management tools to monitor and report on the reliability of the environment.
Majority of the work will be performed in Chantilly, Virginia, which is located approximately 25 miles west of Washington D.C., near the Dulles International Airport.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Maintaining and deploying systems by installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of hardware, operating systems and assigned application software.
Monitor and manage system performance, including triage and resolution activities for performance related incidents, customer request and/or identified trends.
Initiate and manage vendor support and coordinate required support actions.
Assist in technical direction discussion(s) and planning within team and outside team.
Represent technical areas on project teams.
Perceived and demonstrated SME for specific areas/technologies.
Provides upgrade recommendations, supporting rationale, and cost estimates for 5 year plan
Manage hardware and software life-cycles and maintaining applicable vendor relationships (end-of life tracking, licenses and support contracts)
Participate in and conduct applicable accreditation support (scans, automation, auditing)
Assess, prioritize, and size features
Contribute to a cross functional agile team
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Wide comprehension of how various IT infrastructure components work together, including Servers/Workstations, network equipment, Big Data infrastructure, data storage management, enterprise software application, and on-premise cloud solutions
In-depth knowledge and experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining VMware environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, virtual machines, data stores, and physical and software defined networks
In-depth knowledge and experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level storage technologies to include Fiber Channel SAN and Network Attached Storage
Experience configuring Local Area and Wide Area Networks
Experience integrating hardware solutions into Enterprise Data Centers
Experience configuring Kubernetes or containerized infrastructure
Experience with both cloud and on-prem infrastructure
Experience with developing disaster recovery and COOP plans is a plus
Comfortable working on site in a secure classified environment
Experience engaging with vendors to allocate budgets for IT purchases and plan procurements
Written and verbal ability with emphasis on working with external clients
