Job Summary: As an Asset Liability Manager (ALM), you will oversee the strategic management of assets and liabilities within a financial institution to ensure alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and risk management objectives. This role involves analyzing interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and capital adequacy to optimize the balance sheet and support sustainable profitability. You will collaborate with senior management, treasury teams, and risk managers to develop and implement asset liability management strategies that enhance financial stability and optimize funding costs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Utilize quantitative models, stress testing techniques, and scenario analysis to assess potential impacts on financial performance and regulatory compliance.

Asset Liability Modeling and Strategy Development:

Develop and maintain asset liability models (ALM models) to simulate cash flows, forecast balance sheet dynamics, and optimize asset allocation strategies.

Formulate ALM strategies to manage interest rate risk through hedging strategies, duration management, and asset/liability matching techniques.

Capital Planning and Allocation:

Evaluate capital adequacy and capital allocation strategies to support business growth, regulatory requirements, and risk-adjusted returns.

Collaborate with finance and investment teams to optimize capital structure, funding sources, and capital deployment decisions.

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Prepare ALM reports, financial forecasts, and regulatory disclosures summarizing balance sheet metrics, risk exposures, and performance metrics for senior management and regulatory authorities.

Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 9), and internal policies related to asset liability management and financial reporting.

Strategic Decision Support:

Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior management on asset liability management strategies, balance sheet optimization, and financial performance improvement initiatives.

Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the impact of economic factors, regulatory changes, and market conditions on ALM strategies and business outcomes.

Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with treasury, risk management, finance, and investment teams to align ALM strategies with overall business objectives, funding requirements, and risk appetite.

Communicate ALM findings, recommendations, and strategic initiatives effectively to executive management, board of directors, and key stakeholders.

Skills Required:

Financial Analysis: Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and risk management methodologies.

ALM Expertise: Knowledge of asset liability management principles, ALM modeling techniques, and regulatory frameworks governing financial institutions.

Risk Management: Understanding of interest rate risk, liquidity risk, funding risk, and capital adequacy metrics within a financial institution context.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex financial concepts, present ALM strategies, and interact effectively with stakeholders.

Project Management: Ability to manage ALM projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and regulatory-driven environment.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, Dodd-Frank Act) impacting ALM practices, financial reporting, and risk management.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, Master's in Finance) may be preferred.

Relevant experience (typically 5-7 years) in asset liability management, treasury management, financial risk management, or financial planning and analysis within a financial institution.

Professional certifications such as Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or progress toward certification is advantageous.

Compensation:

The compensation package for an Asset Liability Manager typically includes a competitive base salary, performance-based bonuses tied to ALM effectiveness and risk management outcomes, and potentially profit-sharing or incentive compensation.

Additional benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities may also be provided based on the employer's policies.
