Fisher Associates is seeking a mid-level Structural Design Engineer, experienced with Bridge design, to join our Structures Team within the Transportation Group. This position will be responsible for work assignments related to bridge inspection, bridge load rating and analysis and all aspects of concrete/steel bridge and foundation design. The Structural Design Engineer contributes to the creation of safe, reliable, and efficient structures that meet client specifications and adhere to relevant building codes and regulations.

The primary function of this role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Establish and maintain strong client relationships adhering to the Fisher Clientship philosophy.

Prepare bridge design plans and construction bid packages for NYSDOT, NYSTA and locally administered federal aid transportation projects

Effectively complete assignments related to bridge inspection, bridge load rating and analysis and all aspects of concrete/steel bridge and foundation design.

Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, sub consultants and regulatory approving agencies

Assist with field inspections and reports for bridge and culvert inspections

Attend project kick off meetings.

Research, understand and document jurisdictional requirements

Develop creative and strategic design options that meet client’s goals

Complete site feasibility studies as well as site and environmental analysis

Schematic design, engineering systems coordination, site cost analysis, design development

Specification and materials research

Develop plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.

Develop detailed design plans, drawings, and specifications for bridges and related structures.

Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure accuracy and quality of work.

Proactively assist Project Managers, and Project Engineers and Group Manager.

Provide technical support during the construction phase, which may involve addressing design-related queries from contractors, conducting site visits, and reviewing construction progress to ensure it aligns with the design intent.

Requirements

Education & Experience

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field (MS preferred)

5 - 10 years minimum of transportation experience, structures/bridge design experience preferred

Professional Engineering License (PE) or ability to obtain it.

Experience with MS Office, MicroStation, STAAD, Bridge Design Software preferred.
