This position is for a strategic communications and facilitation expert looking to use their passion for communication to create meaningful public engagement. You will join CDM Smith’s growing, cross-discipline strategic communications team as a subject matter expert, with the opportunity to work on projects across the U.S. in the transportation, water, and environment sectors.

The core of your work will be creating and implementing public engagement plans for diverse projects focused on improving community health and infrastructure. Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Managing a public engagement team, including CDM Smith personnel and subconsultants, for each project.

• Working with your project teams to create public engagement plans, public engagement timelines, highly visual presentations and professional communications, and organize logistics for targeted virtual and in-person public engagement efforts.

• Interacting with the public, especially disadvantaged communities, via virtual and on-the-ground community forums.

• Spearheading communications with project stakeholders, including elected officials, citizens, business community representatives, and environmental justice communities.

• Facilitating community engagement forums, like public meetings, hearings, and listening sessions.

• Working with social media and electronic methods of survey and data collection.

• Creating forums to brainstorm and act on ideas to improve CDM Smith public engagement best practices, and/or creatively address specific client challenges

• Contributing to proposals to win more work, including writing public-engagement-related scope, building up a team, and estimating cost.

*Some weekend and evening hours may be required to attend project public engagement events. Your work will support public engagement and strategic communication efforts nationwide.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Public meeting facilitation training and experience, experience with controversial situations.

• Experience managing full-scale public involvement, from strategic communication planning through project or program construction completion.

• Experience with graphic design and related software.

• Experience with GIS and related software.

• Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish.

**Background Check and Drug Testing Information:**

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
