Requirement Detail The Stanford Adventure Program provides space and instructional programs for the Stanford
community. Through the center housed in the AOERC on Stanford’s Campus students, staff and
faculty can access an indoor climbing wall, backcountry travel information, trip and course
registration, community use space, and gear rental.
Responsibilities: AP Outdoor Center Assistant Manager plays an active role in the first impression and ongoing
experience all users have with the outdoor center and AP. They maintain the physical space, and
are essential in providing framework and resources for Stanford’s community of outdoor
enthusiasts, leaders, and learners.
Responsibilities include:
Provides ongoing equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repair
Front line retail and rental customer service
Assists in the rental infrastructure, organization, and inventory control
Assist with gear outfitting for outdoor programs
Supervise students in the role of retail and rental operations
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Affability and a desire to interact with customers
Exhibition of positive attitude, tact, sensitivity, and sound judgment to deal effectively with a
diversity of staff, customer individuals and groups, vendors and contractors
Enthusiasm for the outdoors
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with little supervision, and within a collaborative team
Knowledge of or strong willingness to learn outdoor equipment maintenance and repair
Strong interpersonal communication, organization and supervisory skills
Abilities Required
Frequently required to lift, carry and move up to 40 lbs of supplies and equipment
Ability to move and be on your feet much of the day assisting customers and supervising
students
Duties involve cleaning (vacuuming, sweeping, center floor-maintenance).
Uses a computer for extended periods of time.
Compensation: 23.65 Hourly W2
