The Safety Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our client's operations. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs and policies to minimize risks and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities
•Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and industry best practices.
•Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, facilities, and operations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with DOT safety standards.
•Provide safety training and education to employees, including drivers and operational staff, to promote awareness and understanding of DOT compliance requirements.
•Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance DOT compliance and safety performance.
•Collaborate with operational teams to implement safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety excellence.
•Oversee 24-hour repair and fleet maintenance operations to ensure timely and efficient maintenance of vehicles, minimizing downtime and ensuring fleet safety and compliance.
•Handle claims follow-up and resolution, including coordination with insurance providers and other stakeholders to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of safety-related claims.
•Stay abreast of DOT regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies to continuously improve safety practices and procedures.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for DOT regulatory compliance, insurance providers, and other stakeholders on safety-related matters.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation Management, or related field.
•Previous experience in a safety management role within the trucking or transportation industry.
•In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and identify trends.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
•Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
•Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
