Position Overview

Marquette University, a leader in physician assistant education, announces a Faculty position for Director of Assessment, Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. The faculty reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. The PA department is housed within the College of Health Sciences ( CHS ) and works collaboratively with the College’s other departments to achieve Marquette’s mission of cura personalis, care for the whole person.

The department is comprised of fifteen full-time and twenty-five part-time Faculty, a Program Specialist, Assessment Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Program Associate and 75 students in each cohort. The program has a robust assessment process inclusive of external accreditation by ARC -PA. Marquette University Physician Assistant Studies invites applications for a 12-month, full-time position to serve Director of Assessment and principal faculty. The position may be remote with some on-campus requirements throughout the year. In this role, the Director of Assessment is responsible for the planning, development, and management of all assessment and accreditation related activities in the Physician Assistant (PA) Education program, and will work closely with the Program Director and PA leadership. Participates in strategizing, planning, and implementation of substantial program improvements of large scope and high degrees of complexity. Oversees a variety of complex technical and support services involving data collection, analysis, and review related to all program assessments, evaluation, and continuous improvement processes. Further, the faculty serves the department in teaching and service to the students. Exact teaching assignments are directed by the Program Director and Chair.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Assessment are as follow:

Develop/utilize systems for data collection, reporting criteria and records, including curriculum mapping and competency structure mapping.

Research and compile statistics and data for grants/projects and self-study reports, work with consultants as needed.

Create, monitor, and maintain audit files for program compliance

Analyze, create, and present reports from databases.

Determine data needs for grants, accreditation, and program success in conjunction with the PA Program leadership.

Develop and administer survey instruments, forms, and questionnaires for accreditation compliance.

Review and prepare program reports and data

Document survey/data review process and product Lead assessment preparation and accreditation application and reports, including the ARC -PA Self-Study, in conjunction with PA program leadership.

Didactic teaching responsibilities include teaching, evaluating, and advising didactic and clinical year physician assistant students as assigned by the Program Director and Chair. Additional duties include but are not limited to the following: Chair the Assessment Committee within Physician Assistant Studies. Attend meetings, committees, events, and activities of the Program, department, and University as assigned.

Participate in scholarly activity, professional activity, and research as mutually agreed with the Program Director and Chair.

Other duties and activities as assigned by the program director.

Perform other appropriate job-related duties by the Chair.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Master’s degree in educational studies or a related field,

Minimum of 1 year experience with assessment data in higher education setting or equivalent,

Ability to think and work independently and as part of a team.

Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty and the public.

Demonstrated ability to orally communicate accurately and effectively to proactively influence the action of others, in a professional manner.

Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize and prioritize workload.

Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks of workload with deadlines.

Administrative capabilities demonstrated by previous work experience.

Must be skilled at PC/Mac use and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database management applications.

Additional computer skills highly desirable.

Developed organizational skills.

Ability to attend, lead, and participate in meetings using Microsoft Teams.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.

Contribute to the betterment of the College and University through committee participation (10% effective after first year).

Knowledge of current concepts in physician assistants, clinical instruction and evaluation.

Employment is subject to a criminal background check. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

One (1) year of experience in higher ed academia

Advanced degree in education, teaching, or learning sciences

Doctoral prepared (DMSc/DHSc, PhD, or EdD)

Advanced statistical knowledge and evidence of application

Knowledge and experience with Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant current standards

Managerial and leadership experience
