JOB GOAL
To assist the principal in promoting the educational well-being of each student.
REQUIREMENTS
1.Certified as a middle school assistant principal by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, with at least five years of successful teaching or administrative experience at the secondary level.
2.Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills.
3.Proven ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, staff, and school administrators.
4.Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of the Middle School Concept.
5.Strong history of excellent attendance.
6.Familiarity with Every Student Succeeds Act, School Improvement Planning, and IDEA.
REPORTS TO: School Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
2.Collaborate effectively as a member of the Roosevelt Middle School administrative team.
3.Serve as a member of the teaching and learning team to oversee curriculum supervision and instruction for Roosevelt Middle School.
4.Serve as a member of the teaching and learning team to oversee coordinate curriculum development and implementation with the principal, directors, and teachers.
5.Administer the school's testing program, including MCAS.
6.Lead and support the development, implementation, and follow-up of all professional development initiatives.
7.Work with Principal, Administrative team, and teachers to compile the annual budget requests.
8.Use data in all work performance areas to inform practice and decision making.
9.Engage with parent, faculty, and student groups to advance educational and related activities, including evening assignments as necessary.
10.Manage student behavior related concerns throughout the student body in partnership with teachers, staff and the Administrative team.
11.Supervise co-curricular, extra-curricular, and athletic activities as necessary.
12.Assist the teaching and learning team in scheduling for teachers and students.
13.Manage student attendance in partnership with students, teachers, families, and the student support team.
14.Develop and implement student recognition programs and family/school events.
15.Coordinate and assign substitute personnel as needed.
16.Assist the principal in evaluating all teachers according to the Unit A Contract.
17.Perform other tasks and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
