The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager for the the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Under the guidance of the Director, Engineering Project Management and Design Services, the Project Manger independently manages small to medium size renovation projects from inception to final completion.
The Project Manager will prepare design drawings and coordinate with Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical designers to create complete bid packages on smaller projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other similar construction related engineering degrees.
A minimum of five years of design/construction experience required.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate must be very familiar with all aspects for the design process, be able to direct the work of other team members, evaluate options and make sound decisions.
Must be able to draw/draft on the latest computer aided design programs.
Must have a good understanding of management of small to medium size construction projects.
Must be experienced in working independently with clients to develop creative design solutions and be able to implement the plan.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally the candidate will be working toward obtaining professional licensure in New Jersey.
Computer aided design, Microsoft Word/Excel, Project/work order management software.
