About the Position:
The City of Tukwila is searching for a Finance Director to serve as a member of the City's leadership team. The Director is responsible for leading a staff of 14 and planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating the programs and services of the Finance department based on the city's present and future needs.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and collaborative leader who is deeply committed to the success of the City and is a strategic big-picture thinker. The Finance Director will stay ahead of the curve; recognize the broad implications of financial issues; show openess to new perspectives; see the relationship between people, teams, business processes and outcomes. Candidates should have a proven record of success as a senior financial leader and manager in a complex organization, be skilled at public speaking and knowledgeable and committed to communicating well with internal and external customers.
Desirable Qualifications:
BA in Finance, accounting, economics, public administration, business administration or a related field; and five years of increasingly responsible fiscal and governmental accounting experience in a senior leadership role within a complex government agency, for-profit corporation or a not-for-profit that involves leading a diverse staff and management of significant funds. Experience working with elected officials is a plus.
