Job Description Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Bus Driver reports to the Director of Operations and is an essential member of the Operations team. This individual primarily drives school-owned buses for divisional field trips and athletic department games and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives the school bus to transport students to and from school activities.
Inspects the bus, checks gas, oil and water before departure.
Complies with local traffic regulations and all school procedures.
Reports any safety incidents or accidents immediately (no later than 12 hours after incident).
Performs driving test for employees driving the activity buses.
Possesses and maintains a valid Maryland CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsements.
Performs related tasks as required and any other duties assigned by supervisor related to supporting the Facilities Services Department.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES :
General knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the assigned trade.
The ability to follow oral and written instructions.
The ability to estimate needed materials and time required for various jobs.
The ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously with frequent interruption.
Knowledge and basic experience using electronic email (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, etc.), a computer and smartphone is essential.
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Valid MD driver's license required.
Valid MD CDL License with a passenger certification or the ability to achieve CDL Certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit for extended periods and remain alert and focused during driving shifts, which may involve varying weather conditions.
Clear vision, either natural or corrected, to observe traffic signs, signals, and potential hazards on the road.
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds of force.
Physical ability to respond to emergency situations, such as evacuating students from the bus in the event of an accident or other emergencies.
Regularly requires climbing, standing for long periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, using dexterity, bending, squatting, stooping, crawling, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to ascend/descend stairs.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Must be able to work outdoors under various environmental conditions.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Bus Driver is a full-time, twelve-month non-exempt position.
Generally, works Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with flexibility as school needs require.
Ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as school needs require based on Field Trips and Athletic Department schedules.
Random Drug and Alcohol testing may be performed.
The individual in this position is expected to work during all hours as may be assigned by the School and during other hours for events and activities.
The Bus Driver is expected to perform their job duties on campus unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School.
As a condition of employment, all employees hired after August 1, 2021, are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and be able to provide proof of such vaccination.
BACKGROUND CHECK:
A background check (including criminal records and employment history review) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can begin work with RPCS. Additionally, this role requires pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical. Failure to satisfactorily complete these background checks may affect the application status or start of employment.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Regularly requires local travel.
