Description
Job Summary:
The Fulfillment Specialist will stage groceries and meals in preparation for food deliveries to over 1200 homebound clients living in the Puget Sound region and assist with the smooth execution of daily workflow for outgoing food deliveries for staff and volunteer drivers (including coordination with other departments within Lifelong's Food and Nutrition Services). This position will start as a Monday-Friday position at the Georgetown location. This position reports to the Operations Manager with some oversight provided by the Senior Operations Manager.
Essential Duties :
Staging groceries and meals for outgoing delivery: Prepare outgoing deliveries by organizing, staging, and labeling groceries and frozen meals according to assigned routes. Note: This involves heavy lifting and can be physically demanding. Assess bag contents while ensuring the nutritious variety of items in the client's bags. Support and encourage proper food handling and safety practices for all meals and groceries received by Lifelong clients. Adding fresh and frozen foods to pre-packed groceries.
Support quality client services: Work with Client Services, Nutrition, Warehouse, and Kitchen teams to ensure daily flow of activities and prepare and accommodate for any adjustments to client food orders that may occur daily, such as creating extra produce bags on an as needed basis. Provide close attention to detail when customizing grocery and meal orders due to various dietary needs of Lifelong clients.
Communication and conflict resolution: Provide excellent interdepartmental customer service across Lifelong's food and nutrition services as part of streamlining and clarifying processes. Take an active role in clear and direct communication across teams, while always keeping an eye to maintaining and improving systems. Setting and upholding boundaries regarding volunteer behavior when picking up routes. Provide courteous and welcoming assistance to volunteer drivers.
Warehouse and distribution assistance: As needed, perform duties in warehouse. These tasks may include packing additional grocery bags, portioning bulk foods, cleaning, and organizing.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience : High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Valid Washington State Driver's License and excellent driving record.
Current Food Handler's certification or willingness to obtain one upon hire.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk up one flight of stairs (note: loading and unloading Food and Nutrition vehicles can be physically demanding).
Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Punctual, dependable, and organized.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include some evenings.
Work Environment : The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in all weather conditions, and with walk-in freezers and coolers. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure and transmission of contagions.
Lifelong's Food and Nutrition department is a dynamic and growing program, requiring adaptability, flexibility and prioritizing of time and resources for meeting daily deliverables.
All staff are currently required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to hiring. The use of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to COVID-19 may be required in the future should exposure warrant it.
