What We Need

DFT is looking for an Embedded Engineer to join the DFT team to support the company for its software development efforts. The ideal candidate will be energized by a fast-paced work environment, excited by integrating into complex systems, and motivated by having an immediate impact in a challenging environment.

What You’ll Do

Create and maintain embedded C/C++ code to support intelligent surveillance systems.

Collaborate with team leads and senior engineers to facilitate development of high-end technical products

Write test applications, programs, formal requirements, and relevant documentation.

Analyze systems and provide software support.

Other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills/Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience developing software with a focus in embedded systems design and development.

Strong embedded C and C++ programming skills required.

Proficient in Linux and with real-time operating system principles. FreeRTOS experience desired.

Experience with common software development tools like IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code), Make, GIT, Jira, bash, etc.

Familiarity with open source build tools like Cmake, GNU make.

Experience working electronic hardware, microcontrollers, serial communications (USART/I2C/SPI), embedded design, low level debugging using JTAG and similar tools.

Experience with 32,16 and 8 bit processors (e.g. ARM, AVR, PIC, etc.)

Can read and understand schematics to the level needed to develop embedded software.

Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

BS/BA Degree in Computer science, Software Engineering or related discipline.

Proficient knowledge of engineering principles and best practices.

Experience with Python, Java, and other languages are a plus.

Knowledge of networking and web protocols a plus.

Experience with automated test systems a plus.

General understanding of power management / optimization is a plus.

What We Offer

Salary Range - $100k-$145k

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
