OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content. JOB DESCRIPTION WTXF Fox 29 is hiring a Digital Content Creator to be part of our We Go There team in Philadelphia. The Digital Content Creator will be focused on telling stories that matter most to digital and social users—and doing it with a passion that is in line with FOX 29’s core values—bold, fearless, and real. We’re looking for someone who is driven, smart and quick to react in any breaking news or big news situation. Must be an expert in digital and social platforms, understanding how each platform plays a role in driving not only digital traffic, but also brand awareness for FOX 29’s on-air shows. Must have a track record of solid news judgment, a thorough understanding of the Philadelphia market, and an eye for detail. Must be creative, forward-thinking, and willing to go above and beyond this job description every single day. RESPONSIBILITIES: Create compelling, UX-focused content related to news, events and topics relevant to local users and beyond, including text stories, photos/graphics, live streaming content, breaking news, and social media elements. Produce original content, start to finish, from reporting, to writing, to producing and editing. Create content, produce shows, and operate FOX 29’s digital content stream “LiveNow.” Engage and build loyalty among communities. Develop digital strategies in tandem with the Digital Content Manager for short and long term growth. Serve as liaison to newsroom and talent, ensuring digital and social dominance. Reach and engage users on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and beyond. Work with Group Content Team and other FTS markets to distribute high-interest stories at scale. Follow group standards. Monitor real-time analytics. Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned. This position will be able to operate additional programs such as LiveNow. This individual will also be an integral part of our digital strategy development planning team and will be responsible for developing new ideas to assist with increasing our digital growth. This position will also work closely not only with direct newsroom staff, but also with talent to assist with our overall growth on all platforms.
REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years experience developing and publishing content, including news, on digital and social platforms preferred. BA/BS degree required, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field with emphasis on digital publishing. Excellent writer and storyteller. Superior news judgement. Impeccable writing and copy editing skills. Overwhelming attention to detail. Thrive under deadline pressure. Stellar communication skills. Social media expert. Proficient in content management systems, video publishing, live streaming, and digital analytics tools. Video and photo editing experience (Adobe products a plus).
