Position Overview
Our client, a San Diego based manufacturer of confectionary products is looking to hire a new CFO. As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will oversee a highly skilled finance and accounting team led by an experienced Financial Director/Controller.
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be instrumental in strategic financial planning, financial reporting, budgeting, cash and risk management, acquisition integration, and financing for the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in finance and accounting roles within the CPG and/or food manufacturing sectors, managing operations across multiple sites or accounting offices.
This position is based in San Diego, and requires up to 10% domestic travel to support the enterprise's West Coast manufacturing facility and accounting office.
Job Duties to include but not limited to:
Financial Management and Reporting
Supervise the preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reports.
Conduct cash flow forecasting, manage treasury operations, and oversee cash management.
Monthly review and distribution of financial reporting packages to executives and board members.
Ensure compliance with all financial regulatory requirements and standards.
Implement optimal financial management practices, including cost control and risk management.
Manage the company’s ERP integration and capital planning efforts.
Oversee investment activities, including capital expenditures (CAPEX) projects.
Lead capital planning initiatives and maintain relationships with primary banking partners.
Compliance
Ensure adherence to internal policies, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
Supervise interim, period, and annual reviews and audits.
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the finance team, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.
Foster talent development within the organization through training, coaching, and performance management initiatives to cultivate a robust financial team.
Strategic Planning and Analysis
Perform financial analysis to facilitate strategic decision-making and business planning.
Monitor critical financial performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess performance and pinpoint areas for enhancement throughout our manufacturing facilities.
Establish monthly reporting systems for analyzing financial data and its implications across key departments such as sales, business development, supply chain, and operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or advanced degree preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including at least five years in a senior leadership capacity, ideally within the food manufacturing or a related industry.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong record of achievement in financial management, strategic planning, and enhancing financial performance. Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities in a collaborative setting are essential. Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, strategic planning, and risk management is a must.
