Accounting Manager

Position Overview:
As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting functions. Reporting to the CFO , you will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in our financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, managerial experience, and a solid understanding of the unique challenges and requirements within the chemical manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the overall accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
Oversee the preparation of financial reports, variance analyses, and management reporting packages for senior management and stakeholders.
Coordinate and support annual financial audits, including liaising with external auditors, providing audit schedules, and addressing audit inquiries.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and procurement, to provide financial insights, analysis, and support for business decision-making.
Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
Assist in special projects, initiatives, and ad-hoc analyses as needed, including mergers and acquisitions, process improvements, and system implementations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial or supervisory role, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry or a related field.
Thorough understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP), and internal controls.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with manufacturing accounting software is a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
