Position description

The Department of Neurological Surgery at UC Davis School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member in Neurological Surgery specializing in the management of spinal disorders. The position is offered at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level within the Clinical Neurological Surgery or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Successful candidates will have the foundation, preparation, and vision to pursue a productive career in academic neurosurgery.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active neurosurgical clinical practice, conduct clinical and/or basic science research, and teach residents and medical students as part of a multidisciplinary team at the UC Davis Spine Center in Sacramento, which includes Orthopedics, PM&R, Pain, and Radiology.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must possess an MD, DO, or equivalent degree.

Candidates must have a background in teaching residents and medical students. Evidence of clinical and/or basic science research is required. Candidates must possess the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment that fosters team science and multidisciplinary patient care.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidates must have completed Post-residency or an enfolded spine fellowship in spinal neurosurgery.

All candidates must have or be able to obtain a California medical license and California Fluoroscopy Supervisor and Operator Permit on or before the start of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

Experience with minimally invasive techniques and managing complex spinal deformity is preferred.
