**Summary**

The Lab Technician is a key role, responsible for the day-to-day completion of work assignments related to testing concrete, soils, asphalt, and other construction materials. **Physical Demands & Work Environment**

•Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear; body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation

The manual lifting is performed individually, and the weights manually lifted range from a zero to seventy-five plus pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Weights in the zero-to-seventy-five-pound range are lifted frequently (From thirty-three % up to sixty-six % of the task period) with a frequency range ten to thirty-five repetitions per hour, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Weights in the range of thirty-five to seventy-five plus pounds (concrete cylinders and soils) are lifted frequently (From fifteen % to thirty % of the task period) with a range of five to fifteen repetitions per hour, with or without reasonable accommodation

• Construction materials are manually lifted and carried distances on average ranging from a few feet to seventy-five feet, but may occasionally exceed seventy-five ft in walking distance and are unloaded manually at our lab and carried inside for testing, with or without reasonable accommodation

• On average the workdays range from seven to twelve hours

• Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle, including wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles

• The testing work is performed inside and outside the lab with exposure to: dirt, dust, sun, heat, and humidity

• The testing work is performed outside on the field with exposure to: dirt, dust, sun, heat, and humidity

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Ensure that all testing equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy, and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle

+ Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures

+ Conducts testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials in accordance with applicable testing standards/methods (ASTM, AASHTO, FM, Army Corp of Engineers, DOT, etc.)

+ Report data in a complete, timely, and understandable fashion

+ Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy

+ Turn in paperwork related to the work order every day

+ Attend all technician meetings

+ Regular attendance is required

+ Must be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs. Overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needs

+ Follow all company safety procedures and policies

+ Other duties may be assigned

**Required Qualifications:**

+ Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)

+ Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)

+ Ability to earn required testing certifications

+ Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients

+ Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports

+ Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ LBR Certification for Soils Work

+ Concrete Cylinder Testing Technician Certification for Concrete Work

+ Asphalt Plant Technician Certification for Asphalt Work
