Description:

The engineer in this position is responsible for developing both analog and digital circuitry. Design areas include power conversion, microcontrollers, communications, and limited RF and video circuitry. The incumbent -- using a mix of analog, digital, and software design -- will cover the full range from specifications to concepts through prototype and production. Responsibilities include system design, thermal analysis, schematic capture, board layout, programming, and production support. The engineer in this position will support all ROS products including underwater lighting, underwater cameras, underwater positioners, inspection systems, and remotely controlled underwater equipment

REPORTS TO: Acting Engineering Manager (Owner)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design and develop analog and digital circuits in support of products anywhere in their lifecycle

- Design circuits to comply with EMI/EMC standards

- Design circuits to comply with appropriate safety standards (UL, CSA, CE)

- Evaluate and determine appropriate electrical and mechanical specifications

- Perform HALT testing and root cause failure analysis as appropriate to facilitate product improvement

REQUIREMENTS:

- Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.

- 3-4 years related experience for candidates with a BS degree,

- Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

- Familiar with ECR/ECN procedures

- Understanding of ISO9000/AS9100 or other quality standards

- Experience designing to meet EMC/EMI standards

- Knowledge of control theory and algorithm design

- Comprehension of device characteristics and issues with switching behavior in circuits

- Familiar with PCB design and an understanding of layout issues for combined power and control circuitry

- Experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software (preferably Altium Designer)
