Vice President of Development

Overview:

Our friends at Claris Health are hiring for a VP of Development. The new Vice President of Development will take on a critical leadership role at Claris, responsible for spearheading fundraising strategies, donor relationships, and revenue generation initiatives for the organization. This role entails overseeing marketing initiatives, grant writing, data and research identifying and nurturing potential donors, and providing strategic direction to ensure the sustainability and growth of the organization.

It is important to note that this position will oversee a new team at the organization and will be responsible for supporting strategic hires for all development activities as the role grows.

Responsibilities:

Large Gift Acquisitions: Identify and acquire relationships with major donors, community partners, corporations, and foundations. Create customized stewardship plans to engage donors and secure ongoing support. Lead endeavors to broaden the donor base through targeted outreach and cultivation endeavors.

Communications Alignment + Marketing Strategy: Work with leaders and board to ensure alignment for donor communications and language. Create a strategy that is aligned with organizational goals. Work with a social media coordinator and a graphic designer to ensure cohesive brand and messaging. Speak on behalf of the organization at events, on podcasts, or other public opportunities.

Development Strategy: Build a strategy leverage the team and board to reach fiscal goals including the creation of campaigns. Develop, implement, and manage a fundraising plan aligned with the organization's mission, goals, and financial requirements. Identify novel funding opportunities, revenue streams, and innovative fundraising approaches. Monitor fundraising trends and adapt strategies to optimize donor engagement and support.

Team Leadership and Management: Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing development team, offering guidance and support to attain fundraising objectives. Collaborate with other departments to integrate development strategies into overall organizational plans. Foster a culture of philanthropy and fundraising excellence across the organization. Strategize and leverage the board’s strengths and giftings, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategy.

Grant Writing and Proposal Development: Oversee the grant application process, ensuring punctual and high-quality submissions. Collaborate closely with program staff to craft compelling proposals and grant applications.

Financial Oversight: Work collaboratively with finance and leadership to establish fundraising targets and budgets. Monitor fundraising metrics and financial reports to evaluate progress and drive data-informed decisions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in educational attainment

Have 5+ years of experience in fundraising activities and 10+ years experience in leadership roles.

Profound understanding of fundraising techniques, donor relations, and development.

Ability to understand and manage strategic marketing and grant writing efforts.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, adept at engaging diverse stakeholders.

Strategic thinker capable of devising and executing comprehensive fundraising plans.

Leadership experience, including managing and motivating a development team.
