Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director - Planned Giving.

In collaboration with the Senior Director (SD), the Director will design and execute a productive and efficient planned giving program for NYU Langone Health, initiating programs and developing methodologies that will attract new prospects and donors, while effectively stewarding current supporters. The Director will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects for bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder and lead trusts, life insurance, real estate, retirement plan, and blended major and principal/planned gifts. The incumbent will support institutional efforts to promote planned giving vehicles through a strategic, comprehensive marketing effort, and work with financial advisors, attorneys in NYU Langone Health office of general counsel, the Senior Director, Development and institutional staff, faculty and leadership, as appropriate, to secure commitments. The Director will collaborate with SD to manage the John Revere Society, ensuring effective recognition and retention of identified planned gift donors.

Job Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with SD to educate NYU Langone staff and external constituencies regarding the benefits of making planned gifts.

* Maintain a robust portfolio of planned gift prospects and donors.

* Personally, or in collaboration with Development colleagues, physicians, alumni or other volunteers, solicit individual donors locally and across the country.

* Collaborate with the SD, principal and major gift officers and other Development colleagues to develop appropriate solicitation strategies for potential planned giving prospects. Work closely and effectively with gift officers on blended gifts.

* Meet with alumni, and with grateful patients and physicians--as appropriate--to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects capable of making principal, major and planned gifts to the institution.

* Utilizing PG-Calc as a resource, complete proposals and finalize gift arrangements for bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder and lead trusts, insurance, and gifts of complex assets, in consultation with donor advisors, as appropriate.

* Collaborate with the SD on all aspects of planned giving marketing and e-marketing, ensuring mailing lists are accurate and timely, editing copy, providing appropriate customized copy and photos for marketing materials, and providing text for internal publications. Collaborate with the SD and others to enhance, monitor and maintain the planned giving website to successfully engage donors and encourage online legacy gifts.

* Work with the planned giving team and other colleagues to design and implement stewardship programs to ensure legacy donors are effectively engaged with NYU Langone and its affiliates. Coordinate with SD and Donor Experience and Stewardship teams in developing and distributing communications and planning and executing events that grow the John Revere Society. Develop metrics to monitor effectiveness of these efforts, making adjustments, as needed.

* Attend Revere Society events, development events and galas, including alumni reunion weekend in New York and alumni brunches and events, as needed, across the country, to develop leads for planned gifts and to steward donors.

* Monitor tax trends and design marketing programs and materials to take advantage of opportunities created by new tax legislation and best practices in the field.

* Document portfolio activity to include planned gift cultivation, solicitations and stewardship in the donor/prospect database.

* Record and maintain appropriate metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of marketing and other prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts.

* Assist SD in liaising with the financial institutions that manage NYU Langones life income accounts, regularly reviewing the medical center portfolio of gift annuities. Monitor their status and consult with donors regarding relinquishing their gift annuities, when appropriate.

* Supervise the administration of estates, in collaboration with the SD and Office of General Counsel.

* Support the SD of Planned Giving as needed.

* Perform other duties as assigned.
