POSITION OVERVIEW:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce seeks an entrepreneurial, intellectually curious professional to join our team and support the retention and growth of the Chamber’s membership through the development of background research briefings and materials. The Associate will work in direct support of the Chamber’s President and CEO in her engagements with multinational CEOs, C-Suite executives, and other leaders from across the global business community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the highest level of research, writing, and copy-editing skills, along with super attention to detail, self-confidence, and tenacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively support the Chamber’s CEO through the development of comprehensive briefs on major companies, digging deep into financial data, news sites, company press releases and websites, and other sources.
Assist in crafting and editing persuasive internal and external documents and communications, including those for our CEO and other executives.
Participate in high-level, fast-paced meetings with Chamber executives; take concise meeting notes and identify action items for key stakeholders.
Stay up to date on political and corporate news trends, the Chamber’s own work, and the needs and interests of our member and prospective companies, and proactively connect the dots between the headlines and the corresponding impact on a given industry or company.
Leverage Salesforce to research company membership, generate insightful reports, track news and updates, and identify trends to support our membership and sales strategy.
Develop and maintain tracking sheets to organize and display relevant information, supporting data-driven sales strategies and informing our CEO’s understanding.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience in research, communications, or writing; experience working in a political or executive office, highly preferred.
An interest in policy and politics and a solid understanding of the Chamber’s work and value required.
Robust writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into succinct and easily understandable points.
Eagle-eyed attention to detail, superior organizational ability, and the strongest copy-editing, fact-checking, and proofreading skills.
Experience working with high-level executives and prioritizing complex projects.
Strongest verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with senior leaders with confidence and grace.
Ability to manage complex and fast-changing projects and prioritize effectively in response.
Comfort with ambiguity and taking self-ownership of work.
Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet firm deadlines.
Strongest critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with an analytical mind.
Experience using a CRM, with Salesforce a plus.
Strongest proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, notably Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
