The Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago invitesapplications and nominations for a Chief for the Division of InfectiousDiseases. The Division offers exceptional opportunities for clinical care,research, and education and outstanding faculty who engage in multidisciplinarycollaborations, funded research, and close partnerships with community-basedagencies. A key strength of the Division is its active engagement withtraditionally underserved populations designed to address diverse healthdisparities. The Division is part of a vibrant and growing Department ofMedicine that prioritizes collegiality, diversity, integrity, compassion, andinnovation.
The successful candidate will lead the Division of Infectious Diseases’clinical, scholarly, educational, and service missions while working closelywith the College of Medicine and the University of Illinois Hospital andClinics (UI Health). We seek an outstanding candidate at the rank of AssociateProfessor or Professor (rank commensurate with qualifications) with a record ofextramural funding, program of research, and evidence of collaboration,mentoring, and clinical service. The candidate must have excellent leadershipskills to support and grow the division and advance its commitment to diversityand inclusion.

The Division Chief’s responsibilities are as follows:
Recruit,oversee and mentor a team of ID specialists with expertise in general ID,transplant ID, infection prevention, outpatient parenteral antimicrobialtherapy, HIV, addiction medicine, telehealth, mobile health and globalhealth.
Work withcommunity members and stakeholders to strengthen Divisionactivities.
Serve asattending physician for resident- and fellow-supported inpatient andoutpatient services.
Superviseadvanced care practitioners, fellows, residents, and medical students.
Create andimplement a vision for interdisciplinary and translational research.
Enhance,build, and participate in Divisional programs, including ourwell-established Ryan White HIV clinics.
Collaboratewith the Program Director to nurture and grow a vibrant and engaged IDFellowship Training Program.
Contributeto shaping the future of trainees in our 155 - person Internal Medicineresidency program, and growing ID fellowship program.
Advancethe learning environment for medical students.
Activelyengage in national, federally funded cutting-edge clinical research totreat and prevent COVID-19, HIV and other infectious diseases.
Overseecompliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelinesrelated to infectious diseases and infection control.
Manage thedivision's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and resourceallocation for various programs and initiatives.
Developand execute strategic plans for the division, aligning with the broadergoals of the Department of Medicine and university.
Lead andsupport efforts in securing grants and funding for research and programdevelopment.
Implementand monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care andoutcomes within the division.
Promotecommunity outreach and programs related to infectious diseases andprevention strategies.
Fosterfaculty development through mentoring, training, and supportingprofessional growth opportunities.
Facilitatecollaboration with other departments and disciplines to promote integratedand comprehensive patient care.
Encourageand implement innovative clinical practices and technologies to improvepatient care and outcomes.
Contributeto the development and implementation of institutional policies related toinfectious diseases.
Promoteand support the publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journalsand presentations at national and international conferences.

Qualifications:
Doctor ofMedicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO)
UnrestrictedState of Illinois Physician/Surgeon License or eligible to obtain uponoffer
BoardCertified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
BoardCertified in Infectious Diseases
Regionalor national recognition is expected
