Grant Management

+ In collaboration with the PI, identifies key objectives and results for the project; continually monitors progress

+ Develops a comprehensive plan of priorities/goals as well as a timeline for milestone completion which will need to be strictly adhered to

+ Prepares progress reports for government sponsors

+ In collaboration with the PI, monitors subrecipient progress and invoicing

+ This grant management is a complex task given the number (7) of research centers that have subcontracts, the range of work occurring that includes equipment fabrication, computational petascale data acquisition and mining, computational neuroscience, transcriptomic overlays, and the activity of a diverse workforce. In addition this will require direct communication and oversight of activities occurring at a commercial entity (Google), and universities in the US (Harvard, MIT, Johns Hopkins)

Financial Management

+ Responsible for the oversight of 11 current grants totaling more than 25 million dollars

+ Responsible for analysis of research funds including monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting results to advise PI on spending, hiring, and other strategic management decisions

+ Ensures research funds are spent appropriately in compliance with sponsor and university guidance

Scientific Research Management

+ Oversees the essential operations of the 11 grants by interacting with various collaborators and other highly qualified personnel

+ Develops strategic research plans and oversees milestone progress for the high-profile, multi-million and multi-institution projects, and oversees their subsequent grant-related trajectory and progress

+ Identifies any gaps in completion of project goals and helps develop action plans to ensure these goals are met

+ Serves as the main point of contact with collaborating institutions, working closely with their teams, providing a direct conduit to the principal investigator to give support and guidance as needed

+ Oversees the experimental activities of the subprojects including but not limited to financial and milestone issues, interactions between the subcontractor sites, and preparation of reports to the NIH and others

+ Manages the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for dating sharing within the team and other CONNECTS teams

Faculty Support

+ Holds weekly meetings with the PI to discuss NIH communication and other outward facing issues

+ Advises PI on any issues pertaining to the projects and identifies possible solutions

+ Maintains frequent communication with other participating universities on behalf of the PI to ensure consistency and efficiency of efforts

+ Attends grant-related meetings on behalf of the PI

The Lichtman Lab is seeking a Program Manager to oversee 11 current grants totaling over 25 million dollars.

Grant sponsors include NIH/NINDS, Massachusetts General Hospital, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Columbia University, National Science Foundation, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and the Broad Institute. The person in this role will be based at Harvard but will support and interface with the external stakeholders and collaborating universities as well. The person in this position will require extensive scientific knowledge in order to effectively communicate and partner closely with PhD level directors at Harvard and other collaborating institutions. This position will report to faculty Principal Investigator and Dean of Science, Jeff Lichtman.
